We want to install KYOcount on a new PC, can we keep the data?

Yes, it is possible to setup KYOcount on a new system and copy the data from the old system, but the answer breaks down to 4 different situations: client and manager, migration to the same or newer version. We assume that you install the same (default) directory, that is the best you can do.

  • Client migration, same version / build of KYOcount:

Install KYOcount on the new PC, scanning for devices is not necessary, stop KYOcount running. Copy the old BaseDirectory and all it´s subdirectories to the new PC. Restart Kyocount. Scan for new devices to update the device information of all machines.

  • Client migration, newer version / build of KYOcount:

Install KYOcount on the new PC, scanning for devices is not necessary, stop KYOcount running. Copy the following files and directories from the old to the new PC:

  1. BaseDirectory\AlertMessages.xml
  2. BaseDirectory\Journal\Journaldata.xml
  3. BaseDirectory\Values\*.xml
  4. BaseDirectory\XML\SystemConf.xml
  5. Restart KYOcount, scan for new devices to update the device information of all machines
  • Manager migration, same version / build of KYOcount:

Install KYOcount manager on the new PC. Stop KYOcount manager running. Copy the old BaseDirectory and all it´s subdirectories to the new PC. Restart KYOcount manager.

  • Manager migration, newer version / build of KYOcount:

Install KYOcount manager on the new PC and stop KYOcount manager running. Copy the following files and directories from the old to the new PC:

  1. BaseDirectory\AlertMessages.xml
  2. BaseDirectory\Journal\Journaldata.xml
  3. BaseDirectory\Values\*.xml
  4. BaseDirectory\XML\SystemConf.xml
  5. All subdirectories from BaseDirectory\XML (they contain the clients)

Restart KYOcount manager
