KYOCERA MITA supports the MarathonMan365

On January 1st 2010, the 'watersportbaan' in Gent will be the scenery for the kick-off of quiet an ambitious project: Stefaan Engels, aged 48, wants to run 365 marathons in as many days, the biggest sports performance ever in the world!

Engles runs marathons since more than 20 years and ultra distance triathlons since more than 10 years (3,8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling and 42 km of running). In 2008 he established the world record of the most ultra distance triathlons in 1 year: he swam, rode and ran 20 of them!

But, in 2010 he wants to run a marathon every day and not only in Gent. Stefaan will also take part in all the official Belgian marathons as well as in about 10 European marathon competitions. "Kom in beweging voor meer vitaliteit" - "Move more for more vitality" is his motto: his goal is to make 100.000 people move in 2010, for more quality of life and tolerance.

The aim for obtaining the longer the more quality (of life), by making continuous efforts, is also part of the KYOCERA philosophy.
This has been one of the main reasons why KMBE has decided to support this exceptional sportive project!
Stefaan Engels will wear the KYOCERA-logo on the chest and collar of his sports clothes for 365 days, but our logo will also get a prominent place on the camper and the tour bus that will travel along.

The present MarathonMan is the Japanese Akinori Kusuda; he ran 52 marathons in as many days and obtained his place in the ‘Guinness Book of Records’ in March 2009.
If all goes well, Stefaan Engels will run his 53rd marathon of the year on February 22nd 2010 and he will break the record of the Japanese: he will then be called officially the MarathonMan.
