Kyocera Mita’s MFP achieves one million prints in 50 days

March 15, 2007
Kyocera Mita’s KM-8030 multifunctional product (MFP) has printed 1,000,000 impressions in just 50 work days in a test conducted by Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI), a leading source for intelligence for the imaging industry. The 1,000,000 impressions, the equivalent of printing 679 copies of Tolstoy’s epic War and Peace, were produced with no service required during a BLI Extended Term Reliability Test.
The test, conducted to evaluate the durability and reliability of output devices, was designed to replicate real-world use over an eight-hour working day. Over the course of 50 working days, the KM-8030 was subjected to an average of 20,000 print impressions per day. This included a variety of print and copy jobs on different sizes of paper, processing short, medium and long runs in simplex and duplex modes, with intermittent on/off cycles during each simulated work day. As a result of the test, the KM-8030 received the certification of being a highly reliable product, validating Kyocera’s ability to offer reliable, durable document imaging solutions for the office environment.

“Few MFP manufacturers have subjected their products to this degree of independent lab testing, which really says something about Kyocera’s confidence in its products,” said Daria Hoffman, managing editor, Buyers Laboratory Inc. “Whereas BLI’s normal reliability test is conducted using an output volume equivalent to the unit’s maximum monthly duty cycle, this unit was subjected to a test that was twice as long and yet gave a reliability performance that was virtually flawless – a truly impressive feat.”
